Which one is better for you?

There are plenty of tablets in the market these days, but many of them are very expensive. They range from anywhere from $300-$600. The most popular one out of the bunch is the Apple iPad 2, which is also the most expensive one. To help narrow down your search, there are two tablets that you, the consumer, can purchase at an affordable price and can function just as well as the iPad 2. They are the Nook Tablet (created by Barnes and Noble) and the Kindle Fire (created by Amazon). When you first notice, you'll see that they both look exactly the same, but they do have a difference. I'm going to compare to you the two and their functions to show you just how different they are and it might give you a better insight on what you would want to purchase.

The Kindle Fire

To compete against the Apple iPad 2, Amazon had created the Kindle Fire. The original Kindle function was only for people who wanted to download eBooks and take them to read on the go. But Amazon have stepped it up and created a new Kindle, complete with a color screen and Wi-Fi, thus the Kindle Fire was born. The Kindle Fire's screen is smaller than the iPad 2 (Kindle's 7 in. to the iPad's 10 in.), but for the price that they have it on the market, you can't go wrong with it. The Fire also has the ability to let you web browse and has the ability to let you download apps. Though it may not have the available apps that the iPad 2 has, they do have some well known apps (Angry Birds) that will make the Fire worth the buy. Also, it still caters to those who love downloading eBooks as well. You could download movies and television shows, but it would have to be through Amazon online. Most recently, they've added the Netflix app so you could use your current Netflix account and watch movies on your tablet. The Fire has 8 GB of space of which you could use 6 GB of it for all of your downloads.

The NOOK Tablet

Not to be confused with the NOOK Color, the Tablet is a much different machine and it has much more features than the NOOK Color. Like the Kindle, the NOOK first started out as just an eBook reader and downloader for only eBook fans. But then they went into the market against Apple and created the NOOK Color, which brought in Wi-Fi availability. Then they went back to the drawing boards and created the NOOK Tablet to go up against the Kindle Fire. Also like the Fire, the NOOK Tablet has a 7 in. screen and has plenty of apps you could download as well as eBooks from the Barnes and Noble website. They also have the Netflix app where you could watch movies as well. But if you want to put movies or music on your NOOK Tablet, you would have to download them elsewhere for Barnes and Noble are only know for their books and newspapers. But the NOOK Tablet has 16GB with 13GB you could use for your downloads.

So Which One Is Really Better?

With that said, which one are you going to go for? Let's break down the pros and cons of each one. As far as screens go, if you are looking to watch or read something in the sun, the NOOK Tablet's screen is slightly better. The NOOK Tablet has 1GB or Ram where the Kindle Fire has only 512 MB. The HD video playback of the Netflix are both great, but the NOOK's look slightly a little better. When it comes to their App Stores, Amazon has much more than Barnes and Noble. They have over 10,000 apps to choose from while Barnes and Noble have a little under 10,000. With the price tag of $249, the NOOK Tablet is a better (very close) machine with it's better screen and more memory. But at $199, the Kindle Fire gives you more options of apps to choose from. So it's safe to say that you are not going to go wrong nor will you will be disappointed with either tablets. Especially if you are looking to get something that is like the iPad 2, but at a more budget price.
