Raising Retirement Age to 70 is a Bad Idea
67In this country that we love so much, there are things that have gone wrong here as well. One of the issues are the fact that they (The Government) are raising the retirement age to 70. This by far ridiculous as to what age they're setting. So you are telling me that in order to receive a decent social security check, I would have to retire at 70? There are jobs that don't even keep you at that age unless you are a CFO in some big company.
I understand that in these days, we live far longer than what our ancestors did centuries or decades back due to advanced technology but to raise it to the age of 70? There are still people that don't even live till 60 or 65. Ok, so let's say that at 70, you start to receive your check. Then what? What could you possibly do with your check at the age of 70. You've already lived your life, probably did everything you've wanted to do. Gone on the vacations that you've want to go to. Already have the house paid for. The sad part of this is that I don't think that they are done with it.
My generation (Generation X) and future generations (Generation Y and Z) are going to feel it the most. For the simple fact that by the time we're in our 50's, they just might raise it up to as high as the age of 80. I mean medical technology is way more advanced as it were 50 years ago, but it's not too advanced. What do you all think of this craziness? I know I'm not the only one who disagrees on the change. My personal opinion, I feel that the most appropriate age should be 55. At 55, you are allow to still enjoy the beauty of retirement and the benefits that's given to you. I think that they are taking the whole '30's the new 20' and '40's the new 30' slogan a little too heavy.

Do you think that we will benefit or suffer from the change to age 70?
